ITINERARY

Day 1: Surabaya - Madakaripura Waterfalls - Cemara Lawang village near Mt. Bromo - sunset photography

Your driver picks you up in Surabaya. In about 3 to 4 hours you will be driven to the Madakaripura Waterfalls on your way to mount Bromo. This more than wonderfull waterfall lies hidden at the end of a deep valley in the foothills of the Tengger range. The water has cascades from the dense forest above. Besides its natural environment that is encircled by 7 waterfalls and caves, its beauty lies hidden in local stories and saga. Human interest might be one of your pictures to capture.
Once in Cemara Lawang, check in at your hotel. You can relax with a view over the active volcano Bromo and explore the area if you wish. Be ready for a short distance walking to mount Mentingen for a sunset atmosphere and milkyway photos.

 
Day 2: Human interest - sunrise photo shooting at Mt. Pananjakan - Mt. Bromo - savanna - afternoon village trekking

Rise and shine as you will depart at 1 o’clock in the morning! Drink a cup of coffee or tea before leaving to mount Pananjakan, a world famous viewpoint, which is with 2.702 m also one of the highest view points in the surrounding. Good to see and experience the Milkyway once more. Its breathtaking when the sun is rising as also mount Semeru in the background as an active volcano plays with the light of the sunrise. The usual fog in the caldera is slowly making way for the day. Take your time.
Then, the black Sea of Sand will be crossed before walking up to mount Bromo. Once back at the car, you will meet your driver who will bring you to the savanna in the ancient caldera. Once set and done, you will be brought back to your hotel for breakfast. You have spare time as we only depart again in late afternoon to hike through villages and capture local activities on film.

 
Day 3: Night photography at mount Pananjakan II - Surabaya

Early morning you depart to mount Pananjakan II, again it will be 01.00 in the morning. This viewpoint has a different view over the caldera than mount Pananjakan I, that you visited on your second day. After sunrise you will go back to the hotel to have breakfast.
Then you also will have time to photograph local activities, such as Tengger people working on the land, maybe a ceremony that is taking place such as a wedding, visit a local house, local market etc. After you made pictures according to your wishes, we drive back to your hotel for breakfast. After breakfast it is time to check out and bring you to Surabaya.

TIPS FLIGHT ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIME

On the first day arrive as early as possible. Then you can make the most out of the day.
On the third day, if you have to catch a flight from Surabaya, book a flight after 15:00.
